Unbiased is a psychological thriller visual novel about moral dilemma where you alone hold the power to cast judgement on people’s souls as The Appraiser. Will you grant your fellow man salvation, or damn them for even the most minor of transgressions?You play as The Appraiser, chosen(?) to work at a divinely-ordained desk job of processing Psyches (souls that haven't gone to Heaven or the Otherworld) to allocate their ultimate fate. But don't worry! UNBIASED is a psychological-thriller visual novel that blends 2D anime visuals and live-action actors for a fun and unique mystery experience.You play The Appraiser, who has been tasked with processing "Psyches", the souls of people who need to be manually assigned to Heaven or "A Bad Place". While all of your co-workers at P.E.A.C.E (The Department of Post-Existence Allocation & Compliant Extraction) are portrayed by artwork, the souls you judge are played by real people, with writing for each of the player's clients based off true stories told or witnessed first-hand by the game's developer: The Otherworld De(v)ity.Salvation or Damnation? Gameplay
UNBIASED focuses on a few core gameplay elements:
Investigating Psyches: This is done by reviewing the Psyche's dossier, and then conducting a "time-constrained" interview. The Appraiser gains more skills, experiences, and technology to help guide their decisions as the game progresses.
Character Relationships: The player is able to befriend and even potentially romance co-workers. Chatting with characters allows the player to also learn more about their role and the world they have been thrust into.
World Exploration: Checking e-mails and investigating the office also allows the player to gain insight as to why they are there and question if everything is as it seems to be.
Moral Dilemma: Who has the right to determine what is considered good and evil? What is considered fair, moral, or unjust, and are you just part of the system?
UNBIASED was created using Ren'Py, and plays similarly to any other visual novel, with a variety of choices that can lead to unlocking various subplots, and land with a planned three overall endings.
Dev info
The Otherworld De(v)ity lists themselves as the "vagabond game dev". In the past 2 years they have traveled to various states in the US and countries in Asia and Europe, meeting various people from different backgrounds in their quest to find home. They are married to their beautiful wife and they have two cats, however currently they are all separated thanks to the changes in spousal immigration policies the world over. With UNBIASED, they hope to bridge the gap between them, and perhaps the rest of the world, showing things they have experiences and learned along the way.The Otherworld Dev identifies as Black & Indigenous American, queer, and nonbinary. Their hobbies used to be cosplay until they got called the n-word too many times for their liking, but also enjoys writing, singing, scrapbooking, and collecting stuff they don't need like stuffed animals, teacups, and other oddities. If they were not a hobo-chic game developer, they would probably like to run a themed cafe.UNBIASED is their first commercial game.

Openings
While I consider myself a "solo dev", UNBIASED can only come to life with the help of other talented people all over the world.These roles are a mix of volunteer and paid.
ACToRS
UNBIASED is still casting on-camera, remote actors to portray the other Psyches that appear in the game for the player to interact with.You must have the following at minimum in order to apply:
18 Years of Age or Older: This game is 18+ and is meant for people 18 Years of age or older, thus, our actors must be the same. These roles portray people who are "morally gray", this should be noted before applying.
Smartphone or Camera: You will be self recording your part in UNBIASED.
Ring Light or Other Lighting: If you are recording with your phone, a ring light will be great for supporting/stabilizing the phone and also lighting for yourself.
Ability to do your own makeup/costume: While we will have a small budget for this, you will ultimately be in charge of making yourself camera-ready.

THE CARETAKER: Looking for a cis female actress who can portray someone 45 year of age or older. Looking for someone of either Filipina or Latina descent.
THE POLITICIAN: Looking for a cis male actor who can portray 35 or older. Any ethnicity.
THE HEIRESS: Looking for cis female, nonbinary, or female presenting individual who looks to be in their early twenties. Any ethnicity, but a preference for anyone who appears racially ambiguous or mixed. Should appear "attractive".
